Hi Randy: just found your blog and am glad you are actively posting. I am a paralegal working in NC and have been offered a job with a London law firm. I am on the verge of accepting but need to nail down a few things here first.

As far as the move to the UK, I am in a quandry about how much my partner and i can expect to pay for rent and what area we should live in. We are moving from a 2100 sq ft house we bought in the early 90’s. We have a great deal of cleaning out to do. We know our new digs in London (or surrounding area) will not compare in size to what we are used to here. However, unless my partner can find an employer willing to hire and obtain a work permit for her, she will stay at home. I don’t want her to go stir crazy in a small apartment. So, I think we will need something around 1000 sq feet. I would like to commute no more than one hour each way. We also don’t want to live in a dump…how depressing that would be.

I would love to hear your suggestions.
